Tanzania Hub
MOE is proud to announce the launch of its first international hub and at the same time its unique micro gifting model that empowers community leadership and entrepreneurs in developing countries to take personal responsibility to raise their entrepreneurial game.
In November 2012 we gifted £3,000 (7.5 Million Tanzania shillings) to a group of 5 female entrepreneurs. They have signed the pledge in Swahili. They own the business jointly and have committed to manage the investment and pay back the initial loan over an 18 month period. As the investment money flows back into the community fund, this will then be re-distributed to members of the community for their entrepreneurial initiatives. Again, these individuals will be expected to payback the gift to the community fund.
In addition to the 5 female entrepreneurs, we have 2 local trusted MOE friends who will oversea the community, they will work in partnership with the local government/community leaders but this fund is independent of this team of people to ensure the integrity of this social venture. We hope as the years unfold, this model proves to be a viable, sustainable and ethical way in which to aid people in poor rural communities to teach themselves skills that have a positive and lasting impact on their families and the local community.
